Going GAGA!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

House of Gaga has just premiered the official music video for Lady
Gaga’s single ‘Paparazzi’ and it is mesmerizing!

The single, due to be released on the 3rd of June, expresses today’s
obsession with fame and the idea of wooing the paparazzi.
The song, part of ‘The Fame’ album, is different to her last releases
- less dance more depth – Gaga (heavily influenced by Bowie) is in a more reflective mood with this tune, Its’ a more provocative with heavy synth sounds.

However it’s the video that has the biggest effect.

Directed by Jonas Akerlund the 8 minute film is a lavish effort.
Earlier this month GaGa described the music video as one of her most
genius works ever. In the video she depicts the ‘hyperbolic situations
that people will go to in order to be famous’, most specifically,
pornography and murder. These are some of the major themes in the
video.

It’s significance in the music video world is astounding and has set a
high standard for others to attempt to follow.

The Video linked below for your viewing – Gaga will debut an “explicit late
night version” of the video on U.K.’s Channel 4 on June 4. Can’t wait!

Eurovision – threatening to become cool?

Monday, May 18th, 2009

I love the Eurovision song contest, always have. I don’t expect too much from it just a few giggles and cringes. I accept it for what it is, get my pad of paper and amongst friends we score alongside Europe and scream at the screen when points are politically given to neighboring countries. So what the hell happened this year?

I was bitterly disappointed at the high standard of music with the only major cheese factor being Greece’s entry with lover man Sakis Rouvas pulling his shirt apart.

No one walked away with NIL points! The lowest scorer was Finland with 22 points – how boring.

Even the mid break performance was an awesome spectacle by Argentinean troupe Fuerza Bruta who performed not long ago at the Round house here in Camden to a sell out crowd.

Norway stole the show with a tune called Fairytale that ticked all the stereotypical top song boxes. Cute guy – Check, Love song – Check, Catchy chorus – Check and a violin thrown in for good measure. However another sexy violinist was on form that night and she sang better than Norway’s Alexander Rybak. (not as fun or catchy but a stunning song)

Estonia recieved my 12 points. Randajad with Urban Symphony was phenominal – Andrew Lloyd webber himself claimed he felt threatened by her performance. But it was not to be.

Can anyone tell me why Duncan James from defunct band ‘Blue’ represented my country in the voting?

What a celeb fest! Everyone is going all out for the Eurovision, at this rate there will be a serious threat of the event becoming cool. Not ony did Andrew LLoyd Webber play the piano for our UK entry but the risque ex-wive of musician Marylin Manson, burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese added some suduction to Germany’s entry.

Wow Eurovision – Cannot wait for the next one![video Euopes favourite, Norway:]
